Lots of quizzers from all over the UK descended upon Hampshire in the New Forest for our first ever QuizFest UK took place on Saturday July 29th in the grounds of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu….
A rainy day couldn’t dampen the spirits of the quizzers and holidaymakers who descended upon the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu for the first ever QUIZFEST UK fun day to promote quizzing. Around 15 celebrities from the world of quizzing and TV made appearances in the afternoon signing autographs, books and selfies with people young and old who had travelled from all over the UK to be in Hampshire.
Amongst the big names was Christopher Biggins and 93 year old veteran Nicholas Parsons who also hosted the two big money quizzes during the evening. Amongst the celubrious line up were stars of Eggheads and The Chase, Only Fools & Horses actor John Challis (aka Boycie), DJ David Hamilton and comedienne Helen Lederer, who went straight into the Celebrity Big Brother house straight from the event.
Some of the biggest names in the quizzing world competed during the evening in a big money pro quiz with a £1000 first prize – hosted by veteran presenter and broadcaster Nicholas Parsons. The price was right for Daniel Fuller who was crowned top amateur quizzer on the night, behind P.Sinha, P.Gibson and overall winner Kevin Ashman. Runner up was C.James (£500) with D.Adler coming a respectful third place (£250).
In the fun team quiz hosted by Christopher Biggins, things were a lot closer. Guest quiz hosts Helen Lederer, David Rainford, David Hamilton and John Challis read out the four mystery categories. It ended in a tie between BY BRANDONS GRACE and MILHOUSE WARRIORS who tied in first place, sharing the £1500 top two prizemoney. Local New Forest team CHARLIES ANGELS picked up the £250 third place pot.
