WELCOME TO THE
A local community pub serving Youngs Beers to people of all ages and backgrounds who involve themselves in the many and various activities that Sandra and Ray either organise or support. These include promoting the local Beer Festival, giving a stage to local bands, charity quiz nights, vintage car and motorbike clubs, a golf society, kids football, fashion and jewellery evenings and parties for all occasions. Food is also important with a fantastic menu of Thai cuisine attracting diners from far and wide, either just out for a meal or celebrating a special occasion. The changes to the decor have made the pub more accessable to women of all ages. Groups of ladies can now be seen enjoying a pint or glass of wine unintiminated and able to join in and lead the many things going on.
The Royal George is named after the ship of 100 guns built in 1756, that fought in the battles of St Vincent in 1780, the Glorious First of June, 1794, Isle de Grois, 1795, and the Dardanelles of 1807. The present building was completely rebuilt in 1964, but the original Royal George was built around 1867.
The pub has been recently refurbished and has a lovely garden with heated and covered areas for those cooler days and also benefits from two car parks.
Thai food is served Monday to Saturday, and traditional Roasts are served on Sundays from midday until 3pm. The Royal George also hosts a regular Tuesday quiz night.
Every Tuesday at 9pm is our fun quiz.
